Interpretations Spring 2015!

For over a quarter century, the Interpretations concert series has sought to develop a community of experimental composers, their virtuoso interpreters, improvisers, and an adventurous and supportive audience – and this continues in earnest in 2015.

In January, the violin duo STRING NOISE (Pauline Kim Harris and Conrad Harris) play compositions written especially for them, and Montreal’s Bozzini Quartet perform new music from Canada and James Tenney‘s ‘Koan for String Quartet’. Then, in February, Interpretations begins its celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Chicago’s Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians:

AACM50: Interpretations Celebrates 50 Years of the AACM
2015 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians. The AACM is devoted “to nurturing, performing, and recording serious, original music,” according to its charter.  Throughout 2015 Interpretations will present the work of many of the AACM’s most renowned figures, including Muhal Richard Abrams, Thurman Barker, Leroy Jenkins, George Lewis, Roscoe Mitchell, Amina Claudine Myers, Wadada Leo Smith, and Henry Threadgill, all of whom are featured in the Spring 2015 season.
