Trombonist and composer Steve Swell presents a new ensemble work Leaf Peeping in Poland  with original text and music performed by Deanna Relyea (mezzo-soprano), Patricia Nicholson Parker (voice/dance), Thomas Buckner (baritone), Jason Kao Hwang (violin), Piotr Michalowski (soprano saxophone, bass clarinet), Dave Sewelson (baritone saxophone), Larry Roland (bass), James Ilgenfritz (bass), and Michael T.A. Thompson (drums). German accordionist Eva Zöllner performs recent works by Jagoda Szmytka, Georgina Derbez, Rebecca Saunders, Milica Djordjevic and Sofia Gubaidulina. Finnish cellist and composer Juho Laitinen performs original works for cello, voice and virtual rhythmicon that explore multiphonics, polyrhythms, ritual and resonance.

Trombonist and composer David Taylor presents Big Stories for a Small Group performed by David Taylor and the Calithumpians featuring Taylor (bass trombone and vocals), Ron Stabinsky (piano and vocals), Moppa Elliot (double bass and vocals), and Kevin Shea (percussion and vocals) with words by Johann Friedrich Von Schiller, Hippocrates, Black Sabbath, Dante, Led Zeppelin, and Heinrich Heine.

German pianist and composer George Graewe presents a solo program of piano works including the US premieres of Afternoon In Coloured Frames, AusFaltungen, and Rhyme and Discourse. Composer/conductor Carman Moore leads the Skymusic Ensemble featuring Premik Russell Tubbs (saxophone and flutes), Linda Wetherill (flute), Alva Nelson (keyboard), Marianna Rosett (piano), Daisy Jopling (violin), Eli Fountain (percussion) and Brian Lee (bass and keyboard) in a program of “multi-stylistic compositions for venerable master music makers.”

Thomas Buckner, baritone, performs new works for voice and instruments including a piece by Malcolm Goldstein for violin and voice based on poetry of Basho; Jacques Bekaert’s A Distant Harmony, for baritone, flute, viola, and bass clarinet; Requiem, for baritone flute, bassoon, trumpet, french horn, trombone, timpani, violin, ‘cello, and contrabass to poems of Whitman, Neruda, Thomas, Celan, Anna Akmatova and Jacques Bekaert; Bun Ching Lam’s Songs from Cold Mountain, to poems by Han Shan, for baritone, flute, harp and viola, and Last Love Songs, for baritone and piano.
